MCEC 3.0
MCEC started as Media Center Controller, a robust way to remote-control Windows HTPCs and PCs over TCP/IP or serial ports. That classic integration story is still there: home-control systems, automation tools, and applications can send simple commands that become keystrokes, text input, mouse movement, window messages, and app launches.
MCEC 3.0 reframes the project as the Model Context Environment Controller. It is eyes, hands, and a safe front door for AI agents on Windows. A desktop agent can capture windows, read UI Automation trees, find controls, launch apps, and actuate keyboard and mouse input through the Model Context Protocol.
The agent surface is additive and off by default, so the original remote-control use cases remain unchanged. MCEC 3.0 was built completely agentically, including the new agent-control surface, docs, safety model, and release automation. Verified current release: v3.0.28.
