Book: Sun of Suns: Virga

Found this book via Boing Boing and ordered it along with several others for reading over Christmas in Colorado. With the power outage, I had the chance to get through it last week.

All in all it's a pretty good read. The idea of an “inside out” world where the Sun(s) and the people live inside the world; a bubble, is intriguing. The author does a nice job of unfolding how it all works throughout the book. A few weak spots (all too coincidental relationship between Hayden and Spinner and the ending which I found, frankly, weak).  But a worthwhile read if you are looking for something new.

Stop Digital Amnesia?

Noticed a banner ad on cnet.com that clicked through to this site www.stopdigitalamnesia.com (Stop Digital Amnesia).  Hmmm... Yet another Microsoft viral-teaser site. Something big will be announced on 1/7 at CES...

Reminds me of Furry Goat's post about 2 years ago that I commented on.

First Ski Day of 2007

Family went skiing for the first time this year tonight at Steven's Pass. I burst my S1/L5 disc in my back a few months ago and I just had another cortezone epidural injection yesterday. I was feeling close to 100% so I decided a little mellow night skiing with the fam would be a good test of how my recovery is going.

3 runs and my back started talking to me. I called it quits while the kids and my wife continued on. The good news is I had a few Black Butte Porters and I don't think I actually did any damage to my back... it's just a bit sore.  We go to Colorado next week, and I think I'll be able to go at it pretty hard.  I really need to ease into skiing this year (which just kills me!) because I have a heli trip scheduled in Valdez in April (Valdez Heli Ski Guides) with my sister Laurie, her husband Tom, and my pal Kevin Eagan.

I've been busy

I have been crazy busy building a new product at Microsoft and because it's unannounced I have been unable to talk publicly about it.

I wonder if anyone still subscribes this blog anymore?  I hope so, because we will be announcing my product soon and I have tons to talk about!
